Please support the monthly Food Bank "Brown Bag"
On the first Sunday of the month, St. Ambrose parishioners show their generosity by “brown bagging” donations for the local food pantry. Please consider bringing a bag of non-perishable food or cleaning products. Just leave your bag in the vestibule as you arrive for Mass. Thank you!

Presentation of the Gifts
The book for the entire 2016 year is available in the vestibule for parishioners to sign up to present the gifts of bread and wine at our weekend liturgies. If there is a special occasion (birthday, anniversary, etc.) that you would like to reserve to bring up the gifts, please be sure to sign up early.

Ash Wednesday
On Wednesday, Feb. 10, we begin the Church’s holy season of Lent. Ashes will be distributed at the following times and places:
9:00 am Mass at St. Michael
4:30 pm Word Service at Hiram College (Chapel)
7:00 pm Mass at St. Ambrose

Year of Mercy "Leaving the Light on - An evening of Reconciliation"
As part of the diocesan celebration of the Year of Mercy, most parishes will participate in "Leaving the Light on - An evening of Reconciliation" on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 7:00 - 7:30pm.

CCD and Youth Ministry News
  • Parent Session - First Eucharist Second grade parents will have their first parent preparation session Sunday, Feb. 7, at 10:00 am in the elementary school. The second session will be held on Sunday, Feb. 14, at 10:00 am. These sessions are required if your child is to receive the sacraments.
  • Lenten Food Drive - Grades K thru 8 will be collecting canned goods and paper products from Feb. 14 thru March 20 for the food cupboard. Students should bring items to CCD. The class that collects the most items per child will enjoy breakfast at McDonald's.
  • CCD Candy Sale - Our CCD students will begin selling Malley candy bars in three varieties plus taking orders for all types of candies on Jan. 31. If you would like to purchase any candy, please contact a CCD student or call the rectory at 330-527-4105. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Old Palms for Ash Wednesday Ashes
Please bring your old palms to church. On Sunday, Feb. 7, our Youth Group will participate in a prayer service in which the palms will be burned. The ashes from the burned palms will be used on Ash Wednesday (Feb. 10). Place palms in basket in vestibule.

Holy year of Mercy
To celebrate the Year of Mercy proclaimed by Pope Francis, St. Ambrose will be collecting different items each month to be donated to those in need. During the month of February, we will collect diapers for the Coleman Pregnancy Center in Kent, an organization that helps pregnant woman have healthy babies. Thank you for your generosity and kindness.

Parish Mission
St. Ambrose Church is hosting a Parish Mission to be held on Sunday, March 6, Monday, March 7 and Tuesday, March 8 in the church from 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The presenter is Jim Merhaut, founder and director of Coaching to Connect. The mission topic is Family Holiness: Finding the Treasure Within. A reception in the church hall will follow the Tuesday session. Babysitting is available. Watch the bulletin for more information as Lent approaches.

Annual Appreciation Dinner
Mark your calendars now for our annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner to be held on Friday, April 8, 2016. More details to follow in future bulletins.

Women’s Renewal

The Christ Renews His Parish St. Ambrose/St. Michael Women’s Renewal will be held on May 14-15 at Camp Asbury.

Knights of Columbus News & Activities

K of C Labels for Education
St. Ambrose Knights of Columbus are teaming up with James A. Garfield Schools for a "Box Tops for Education"/"Labels for Education"drive. The school receives money for every UPC label and box top submitted. For participating products and a printable product list, visit BoxTops 4 Education. There will be a collection box in the back of the Church for you to deposit your labels. Please help the kids and JAG Schools. Thank you!

Council 11801 Fundraiser
CalsThe St. Ambrose Knights of Columbus is hosting a charity fundraiser through Cal's restaurant in Garrettsville that benefits the K of C/Charles Abraham Scholarship fund and Garrettsville-Nelson Food Shelf. Download and print a copy of the Cal's flyer, dine at Cal's and present the flyer on the listed dates. Flyers are also available in the church vestibule.

Steak Fry - Save the Date
Menu: Rib eye steak, baked potato, green beans, salad, dessert,
         coffee, tea (beer and wine available for donation).
Date: Saturday, 2/27, immediately following the 5:00 pm Vigil Mass.
Cost: $15/person or $25/couple (kids eat hot dogs for free). Cash, check,
         Mastercard/Visa accepted. 50/50 raffle.
One of the Knights will be taking reservations after all Masses starting Feb. 6 so we can purchase the correct number of steaks.

K of C Meeting Times

Windham K of C - The Windham K of C meets the second and
   fourth Monday of each month at 7:00 pm in the St. Michael hall.

Food Cupboard
The Windham Knights of Columbus has started an ongoing food drive through St. Michael’s Church. Canned vegetables, canned soup, cereal and peanut butter are the most needed items. However, any non-perishable items are fine. Please check the expiration date before donating. We would like to thank you for your generosity in advance.

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a Reverse Raffle
A chance to win $500.00 -- Raffle Dinner-Dance, March 12, 2016 at 6:00 pm. $30.00 for one entry & one dinner, or $50.00 for one entry & two dinners. Only 74 entries for the Raffle will be sold. Valentine’s Day Special Bingo
St. Michael will be hosting a Valentine’s Day Special Bingo on Sunday, Feb. 14. We will have a raffle table, 50/50, and a bakery raffle table. Games start at 1:30 pm. Please come out and support St. Michael Church! If you cannot attend, please consider donating a new, unused item for our raffle table.
