Please support the monthly Food Bank "Brown Bag"
On the first Sunday of the month, St. Ambrose parishioners show their generosity by “brown bagging” donations for the local food pantry. Please consider bringing a bag of non-perishable food or cleaning products. Just leave your bag in the vestibule as you arrive for Mass. Thank you!

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
The R.C.I.A. is a formation process for adults (18 years of age and older) who wish to become Catholic. Classes are held in the rectory or church hall for learning, faith sharing and fellowship. The culmination of the R.C.I.A. is at the Easter Vigil at which time we will celebrate the sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. If you or someone you know may be interested in becoming Catholic and being involved in the R.C.I.A. classes, please call the rectory at 330- 527-4105.

Winter Mass Schedule
Our winter Mass schedule will begin on Sunday, September 7. Masses on Sunday morning will be at 9:00 am at St. Michael, and 11:15 am at St. Ambrose. Saturday Vigil Mass remains at 5:00 pm at St. Ambrose.

Mass Intentions
We are always in need of weekday Mass intentions. If there is a loved one you would like remembered in a special way at our weekday Masses, please contact us at the rectory at 330-527- 4105. The stipend is $10.00.

CCD and Youth Ministry News

  • CCD & Youth Ministry - CCD begins on Sunday, Sept. 7 at the JAG Elementary School at 10:00 am, and Youth Ministry begins on Sunday, Sept. 21 in the church hall at 10:00 am.

  • CCD and Youth Ministry Registration - Any student wishing to attend CCD in September (preschool-grade 8) or Youth Ministry (grades 9- 12) and is not currently attending must fill out a pink registration form found in the church vestibule. Place the registration form in the collection basket, drop it off at the rectory, or mail it to the church. Please include a copy of the student’s baptismal certificate (preschoolers must be age 4 by September 30).

    NOTE: Diocesan Policy requires that all students be actively enrolled in religious education classes TWO YEARS PRIOR to celebrating the Sacraments of Initiation (First Communion and Confirmation) and attend the Sunday Eucharistic Celebration (Mass).

  • Confirmation - All eighth and ninth grade (and above) students who have received the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Eucharist and have completed eight years of religious instruction are eligible to receive this sacrament. Letters have been mailed. If you did not receive a letter and you believe your child is eligible, please call Mrs. Kable at 330-719-7115.

Steak Fry!
Once again, the St. Ambrose Knights of Columbus Council is hosting their annual Steak Fry on Saturday, August 23, in the church hall. Stay tuned formore information, but plan on a great evening of steak, door prizes, cashbar, music and maybe some 50/50!

Joint Parish Picnic
Plan now to attend our annual parish picnic to be held on Sunday, September 7, at 1:00 pm at St. Michael Church. Hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks will be provided. Parishioners are asked to please bring a covered dish or dessert to share. There will be fun and games for children and adults.

2015 Women's Renewal
St. Ambrose/St. Michael is looking to form their first women's renewal team. If you have made a Christ Renews His Parish renewal weekend and are interested in being on a team, our discipleship meeting will be on Monday, August 25. Hiram College Students
We welcome the students of Hiram College who may be joining us at Mass. May the academic year before you be filled with much wisdom and grace. On Sunday, Sept. 21, we will have coffee and donuts after the 11:15 Sunday Mass to officially welcome the men and women of Hiram College.

Wedding Anniversary Celebration
The Office of Marriage and Family Life of the Diocese of Youngstown is sponsoring its second Diocesan Wedding Anniversary Celebration for the year 2014 on Sunday, October 19, at 2:00 pm at St. John the Baptist Church, Canton. Diocesan couples who are observing their 25th, 40th, 50th, and over, wedding anniversaries in 2014 will be honored at this celebration. Couples are encouraged to register for this event by contacting the parish office.

Knights of Columbus
K of C• St. Ambrose Council 11801 - Meets the second (business) and fourth social) Monday of each month at 7:30 pm in the St. Ambrose hall.
Windham K of C - The Windham Knights of Columbus meet the second and fourth Monday of each month at 7:30 pm in the St. Michael hall.

Food Cupboard

The Windham Knights of Columbus has started an ongoing food drive through St. Michael’s Church. Canned vegetables, canned soup, cereal and peanut butter are the most needed items. However, any non-perishable items are fine. Please check the expiration date before donating. We would like to thank you for your generosity in advance.

Bishop Murry’s Visit
On Sunday, September 14, Bishop Murry will be coming to the 9:00 am Mass to install Fr. Stephen Zeigler as pastor of St. Michael. A reception will follow in the church hall.

2015 Mass Book
The 2015 Mass book is open. There are still Mass openings at St. Michael for Masses for 2014.

Boy Scouts of AmericaTroop 62 (4062) of the Boy Scouts of America meets in the St. Ambrose church hall on Thursday evenings at 7 pm. The troop is located in Garrettsville Ohio and covers Garrettsville, Windham and Hiram.
