Please support the monthly Food Bank "Brown Bag"
On the first Sunday of the month, St. Ambrose parishioners show their generosity by “brown bagging” donations for the local food pantry. Please consider bringing a bag of non-perishable food or cleaning products. Just leave your bag in the vestibule as you arrive for Mass. Thank you!

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
The R.C.I.A. is a formation process for adults (18 years of age and older) who wish to become Catholic. Classes are held in the rectory or church hall for learning, faith sharing and fellowship. The culmination of the R.C.I.A. is at the Easter Vigil when we will celebrate the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. If you or someone you know may be interested in being involved, please call the rectory at 330-527-4105.

Anointing of the Sick
We will celebrate the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick on Saturday, May 23, at 6:00 pm at St. Ambrose Church. At this time we will anoint with the Church's Holy Oil of the Infirm those of our parishes who are sick, chronically ill, infirmed by age or facing surgery.

Summer Mass Schedule
Our summer Mass schedule will begin on Sunday, June 7. Masses on Sunday morning will be at 9:00 at St. Michael and 10:30 at St. Ambrose. The Saturday Vigil Mass at St. Ambrose remains at 5:00 pm.

2016 Mass Book
The 2016 Mass book is now open. There are still Mass openings for weekday Masses for 2015.

CCD and Youth Ministry News

  • CCD and Youth Ministry Registration - Any student wishing to attend CCD (preschool to grade 8) or Youth Ministry (grades 9 to12) and is not currently attending must fill out a pink registration form found in the church vestibule. Place the registration form in the collection basket, drop it off at the rectory, or mail it to the church. Please include a copy of the student's baptismal certificate. (Preschoolers must be age four by September 30.)
  • Get to the Point - Youth group is planning a chartered bus trip to Cedar Point on Thursday, June 11. We will meet at St. Ambrose at 8:30 am and return at 11:30 pm. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join us. The cost of the trip is $58.00 for students and adults for ticket and bus fare. Please call 330-527-4105 for more information or to sign up.

Family Hike
Get your hiking boots ready! A hike is being planned on Sunday, May 24, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Location will be announced in the near future. A picnic will follow back at St. Ambrose.

Knights of Columbus Fundraiser
K of COn selected weekends, the St. Ambrose Knights of Columbus is hosting a charity fundraiser through Ruby Tuesday in Streetsboro. Ruby Tuesday will return 20% of your total dining receipt to the St. Ambrose Knights. The program benefits the K of C Scholarship fund and Garrettsville-Nelson Food Shelf. Check the bulletin for dates, and then download and print a copy of the approriate flyer and present it to the restaurant.

Christ Renews His Parish
Christ Renews His Parish Women's Discipleship Evening will be on Monday, June 1, at 7:00 pm in the St. Ambrose church hall. ALL past and new renewalists are invited for an evening of reunion and prayer. Please plan to attend.

Altar & Rosary Society
The ladies of the A & R Society will meet next Sunday, May 31, at 12:15 p.m. in the church hall for their monthly meeting. Hostesses are Helen Danku and Mary Pesecky.

Wedding Anniversaries
The Office of Marriage and Family Ministry, Diocese of Youngstown, will be sponsoring two Wedding Anniversary Celebrations honoring couples who will observe their 25th, 40th, 50th and over, wedding anniversary in 2015. Couples may register for the date most convenient for them.

  • Sunday, June 14, at 2:00 pm at St. Columba Cathedral, Youngstown. Please register at the parish office by May 14.
  • Sunday, October 11, at 2:00 pm at St. John the Baptist Church, Canton. Registrations will be taken at a later date for the Canton celebration.

Mark Your Calendars
This year's Chicken Dinner Festival is scheduled for June 27/28. Let's all do what we can to make this fun weekend the biggest and best ever! A very special thank you is extended to our festival chairmen, Matt Ryser & Bob May, and to the Festival Planning Committee for all their hard work in planning our 56th Annual Chicken Dinner Festival.

Friends of Melana Run/Walk
The Friends of Melana Children's Glioma Cancer Foundation is hosting the 5th Annual Friends of Melana 5k and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk Sunday, June 28, at 9:00 AM. All proceeds go to the Children's Glioma Brain Cancer Foundation, Friends of Melana. Call Norm Fashing, 330.527.8093, for additional race information (www.stopkidscancer.org).

Sister Parish Envelope
In your May/June contribution packets, there is anenvelope for making a monetary donation to our brothers and sisters at our "sister parish" in El Salvador, San Rafael. You can be assured that whatever you can give will be greatly appreciated and will help further the mission of the Church in one of the poorest areas of our world.

Windham K of C - The Windham Knights of Columbus meet the second and fourth Monday of each month at 7:30 pm in the St. Michael hall.

Food Cupboard

The Windham Knights of Columbus has started an ongoing food drive through St. Michael’s Church. Canned vegetables, canned soup, cereal and peanut butter are the most needed items. However, any non-perishable items are fine. Please check the expiration date before donating. We would like to thank you for your generosity in advance.
