Please support the monthly Food Bank "Brown Bag"
On the first Sunday of the month, St. Ambrose parishioners show their generosity by “brown bagging” donations for the local food pantry. Please consider bringing a bag of non-perishable food or cleaning products. Just leave your bag in the vestibule as you arrive for Mass. Thank you!

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
The R.C.I.A. is a formation process for adults (18 years of age and older) who wish to become Catholic. Classes are held in the rectory or church hall for learning, faith sharing and fellowship. The culmination of the R.C.I.A. is at the Easter Vigil at which time we will celebrate the sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. If you or someone you know may be interested in becoming Catholic and being involved in the R.C.I.A. classes, please call the rectory at 330- 527-4105.

Brooks House Assisted Living Community
On the first Tuesday of each month Father Steve celebrates a Mass at Brooks House (18144 Claridon Troy Road State Route 700) for the residents at 11:00 am. If you would like to join us for the celebration on June 3, please feel free to do so!

2015 Mass Book
The 2015 Mass book is now open. There are still Mass openings for weekday Masses for 2014.

CCD and Youth Ministry News

  • CCD and Youth Ministry Registration - Any student wishing to attend CCD in September (preschool-grade 8) or Youth Ministry (grades 9- 12) and is not currently attending must fill out a pink registration form found in the church vestibule. Place the registration form in the collection basket, drop it off at the rectory, or mail it to the church. Please include a copy of the student’s baptismal certificate (preschoolers must be age 4 by September 30).

  • Confirmation - All eighth and ninth grade (and above) students who have received the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Eucharist and have completed eight years of religious instruction are eligible to receive this sacrament. Letters have been mailed. If you did not receive a letter and you believe your child is eligible, please call Mrs. Kable at 330-719-7115.

St. Joseph’s Ox Roast Fair - Mantua
...will be held on July 18, 19 and 20. Festival hours are: Friday - 6:00 pm until 11:30 pm, Saturday - 1:00 pm until 11:30 pm, and Sunday - noon until 10:00 pm. St. Joseph Mantua is located at 11045 St. Joseph Blvd. Mantua, Ohio 44255.

Birthday Dinner
The Altar and Rosary Society Birthday Dinner will be held on Thursday, July 24, at 6:00 pm at the Main Street Grille! Please call Helen Danku at 713-598-2721 if you plan to attend, so we can have an accurate count. Everyone will order off the regular menu. All members are invited!

Steak Fry!
Once again, the St. Ambrose Knights of Columbus Council is hosting their annual Steak Fry on Saturday, August 23, in the church hall. Stay tuned for more information, but plan on a great evening of steak, door prizes, cash bar, music and maybe some 50/50!

High School Graduating Seniors of 2014
The annual Knights of Columbus Higher Education Scholarship will be chosen this summer. This scholarship of $500 will be awarded to a graduating senior in this year’s class, based on registered status of your family within St. Ambrose parish (and a regular attendee of the Youth Group). The scholarship will be used for any higher education that you pursue and will be distributed after a successful fall semester. Applications and guidelines are in the vestibule and will need to be returned by Sunday, August 17.

K of C• St. Ambrose Council 11801 - Meets the second (business) and fourth social) Monday of each month at 7:30 pm in the St. Ambrose hall.
Windham K of C - The Windham Knights of Columbus meet the second and fourth Monday of each month at 7:30 pm in the St. Michael hall.

Food Cupboard

The Windham Knights of Columbus has started an ongoing food drive through St. Michael’s Church. Canned vegetables, canned soup, cereal and peanut butter are the most needed items. However, any non-perishable items are fine. Please check the expiration date before donating. We would like to thank you for your generosity in advance.

Bishop Murry’s Visit
On Sunday, September 14, Bishop Murry will be coming to the 9:00 am Mass to install Fr. Stephen Zeigler as pastor of St. Michael. A reception will follow in the church hall.

Liturgical Ministers

Boy Scouts of America
Boy Scouts of AmericaTroop 62 (4062) of the Boy Scouts of America meets in the St. Ambrose church hall on Thursday evenings at 7 pm. The troop is located in Garrettsville Ohio and covers Garrettsville, Windham and Hiram.
