Please support the monthly Food Bank "Brown Bag"
On the first Sunday of the month, St. Ambrose parishioners show their generosity by “brown bagging” donations for the local food pantry. Please consider bringing a bag of non-perishable food or cleaning products. Just leave your bag in the vestibule as you arrive for Mass. Thank you!

Holy Year of Mercy (Dec. 8, 2015 - Nov. 20, 2016)
To celebrate the Year of Mercy proclaimed by Pope Francis, St. Ambrose will be collecting different items each month to be donated to those in need. During the month of May we will collect children’s lunches; peanut butter, jelly, soup, mac & cheese etc. Thank you for your generosity!

Year of Mercy - 2016 Night to Honor Mary
A Night to Honor Mary will be held Friday, May 6, at 7:00 pm at St. Columba Cathedral, Youngstown, and on Friday, May 20, at 7:00 pm at St. Michael the Archangel Parish, Canton. The Most Rev. George V. Murry, S.J., Bishop of Youngstown, will preside at both of these devotional services to honor our Blessed Mother. All are invited to attend the services that will include scripture readings, a homily, hymns and recitation of the rosary.

Anointing of the Sick
We will celebrate the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick on Saturday, May 28, at 6:00 pm at St. Ambrose Church. At this time we will anoint with the Church’s Holy Oil of the Infirm those of our parishes who are sick, chronically ill, infirmed by age or facing surgery.

CCD and Youth Ministry News
  • First Eucharist Practice - First Eucharist Practice will be on Saturday, April 30, at 11:00 am at St. Ambrose Church. All students and at least one parent are expected to participate at practice. Please bring your completed textbook and banner.
  • First Eucharist will be celebrated Sunday, May 1, at 1:30 pm at St. Ambrose Church. We have seven second graders receiving the sacrament this year. Please remember these children and their parents and families as they join us around the Eucharistic table.
  • CCD and Youth Ministry Registration - Any student wishing to attend CCD (preschool to grade 8) or Youth Ministry (grades 9 to12) and is not currently attending must fill out a pink registration form found in the church vestibule. Place the registration form in the collection basket, drop it off at the rectory, or mail it to the church. Please include a copy of the student’s baptismal certificate. (Preschoolers must be age four by September 30.)

Grief Gathering
The third of six sessions will be held Wednesday, May 4, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm in the church hall.

Wedding Anniversaries
The Office of Marriage and Family Ministry, Diocese of Youngstown, will be sponsoring two Wedding Anniversary Celebrations honoring couples who will observe their 25th, 40th, 50th and over, wedding anniversary in 2016. The first celebration will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, June 5, at St. Columba Cathedral, Youngstown. Please register at the parish office by May 5. The celebration will be offered again at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 9, at St. John the Baptist Church, Canton. Registrations will be taken at a later date for the Canton celebration.

The Friends of Melana Run/Walk
The Friends of Melana Foundation is organizing the 6th Annual Friends of Melana 5k run and 1 mile fun run/walk to be held on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Garrettsville Summerfest. All proceeds go towards research for children’s glioma brain cancer. Register for the event nline at www.2016friendsofmelana5k.eventbrite.com, or the day of the event at St. Ambrose, Garrettsville. Sister Parish
In your May/June contribution packets, there will be a specially marked envelope for those who wish to make a monetary donation to our brothers and sisters at our “sister parish” in El Salvador, San Rafael. You can be assured that whatever you can give will be greatly appreciated and will help further the mission of the Church in one of the poorest areas of our world. Knights of Columbus News & Activities

K of C Labels for Education
St. Ambrose Knights of Columbus are teaming up with James A. Garfield Schools for a "Box Tops for Education"/"Labels for Education"drive. The school receives money for every UPC label and box top submitted. For participating products and a printable product list, visit BoxTops 4 Education. There will be a collection box in the back of the Church for you to deposit your labels. Please help the kids and JAG Schools. Thank you!

CalsThe St. Ambrose Knights of Columbus is hosting a charity fundraiser through Cal's restaurant in Garrettsville that benefits the K of C/Charles Abraham Scholarship fund and Garrettsville-Nelson Food Shelf. Food Cupboard
The Windham Knights of Columbus has started an ongoing food drive through St. Michael’s Church. Canned vegetables, canned soup, cereal and peanut butter are the most needed items. However, any non-perishable items are fine. Please check the expiration date before donating. We would like to thank you for your generosity in advance.

Mother’s Day Breakfast
Sunday, May 8, immediately after the 9:00 am Mass, the Windham Knights of Columbus is hosting the Annual Mother’s Day Breakfast in the hall. All women are invited to join us.
