The Pastoral Council is the chief consultative body of St. Ambrose Parish. Its primary purpose is to enhance and oversee the quality of parish life and ministry. Through a goal-setting process, members aid the pastor in giving shape to the direction of pastoral ministry in our parish.
The mission of the parish Pastoral Council is “to examine and consider all that relates to pastoral work and to offer practical conclusions on these matters so that the life and activity of the People of God be brought into greater conformity with the Gospel.” (Pope Paul VI). Through a goal-setting process, the members of the Council aid the pastor in giving shape to the direction of pastoral ministry in our parish.
The pastor appoints the standing committee chairpersons along with other parishioners chosen through a discernment process. These members meet with the pastor monthly throughout the year.

Canon 537 states, “In each parish, there is to be a finance committee to help the parish priest in the administration of the goods of the parish.”
The Finance Council advises the pastor in the administration of all parish property, land, and buildings. It ensures fiscal responsibility and stewardship for all temporal goods of the parish. It oversees matters such as budgets, income and expenses, investments, salaries, capital improvements, fundraising, long-range planning, and grounds and maintenance. The pastor appoints members. The group meets regularly.
The St. Ambrose Parish Safety Committee is a group of volunteer guardians that serve to coordinate and implement safety measures across the church community. It is their responsibility to ensure that the church is well-prepared to respond to emergencies and potential threats by developing and executing effective emergency response plans and protocols. Currently, the chairperson meets as a part of the Finance Council.
