Parish Social Life Committee
The Parish Social Life committee hosts a variety of parish social activities throughout the year. These include the Halloween party, roller skating parties, coffee and donut socials, the parish picnic, family bingo, and bowling parties.
The committee cordially invites new members and any suggestions that can enhance our parish's social life.
This group of women join together spiritually and socially to support the Church. Meetings are held on the last Thursday of each month except in December. The evening begins with praying the rosary, followed by a business meeting and refreshments.
The Society leads the rosary weekly before Mass, purchases altar bread and wine, assists in the upkeep of the church, acts as hosts for parish functions, donates to charitable organizations, and supports various parish activities.
All women of St. Ambrose, age 18 and older, are encouraged to attend! Contact Donna Ashachik for details.
Annual Chicken Dinner Festival
Our annual Chicken Dinner Festival, the major fundraiser of our parish, began in 1959. Since then, thousands of delicious chicken dinners have been enjoyed by many during the weekend’s festivities. The festival is held on the last Saturday and Sunday of June. All parishioners are invited to be a part of the Festival Planning Committee which begins meeting in January of each year. To join contact Lenny Barcikowski or Pat Johnston.
The Annual Chicken Dinner Festival coincides with Garrettsville's Summerfest Celebration. For more information about Summerfest, visit: garrettsvillesummerfest.com
Appreciation Dinner Dance
It is the sharing and volunteering of time, talent, and treasure on the part of many parishioners that help St. Ambrose parish to continue to be a vital faith community. In appreciation for all the work and ministry that our volunteers do, an Appreciation Dinner Dance in their honor is held annually.
Bingo
Bingo at St. Ambrose is held on the first and third Tuesdays at 6:45 PM. Not only do our bingo games provide financial support for the parish, but they also provide an opportunity for many people to meet with friends and socialize. There is always a need for more parishioners to volunteer to help with bingo. Please call the rectory (330-527-4105) for more information.
Knights of Columbus
The Knights of Columbus is one of the oldest international Catholic Brotherhood organizations. St. Ambrose Knights of Columbus Council #11801 was founded in 1996 and is open to men of the parish age 18 and older who are practicing Catholics.
The K of C sponsors a wide range of social and religious activities both within the parish and beyond. They meet twice each month in the church hall — on the second Monday for a business meeting and the fourth Monday for a social meeting.
